Kapurthala — “United” Akali Dal volunteers on Tuesday forcibly occupied 2 stage from which Akali Dal (L) leaders were to address a congregation at a gurdwara in Sultanpur Lodhi, 30 km from here.
The “United” Akali Dal convenor, Mr. Joginder Singh, addressed a gathering from the stage which was erected by the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee.
The Akali Dal (L) leaders did not put in an appearance. Among those on the dais were Mr. Jagdev Singh Talwandi, Mr. Atma Singh and Mr. Ujjagar Singh Shekhwan.
A heavy police force was deployed outside the gurdwara as a precautionary measure. Mr. Joginder Singh alleged that the Government was harassing Sikhs by implicating them in false cases.
