GLEN ROCK, NJ: The martyrdom of Guru Arjun Dev Ji, the fifth Master was commemorated at the Sri Guru Singh Sabha here on June 19.
The Ragi Jatha of Bhai Bawa Singh rendered kirtan at the shahidi gurpurb.
The sangat was present in large numbers especially the youth. An appeal by the management of the Gurdwara for funds to build the edifice evoked a positive response from the sangat. 30,000.00 dollars were pledged on the spot, according to S. Swaran Singh Ghandok Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Gurdwara.
The architect’s plans for the new Gurdwara building are ready. The new edifice is planned along the lines of traditional Gurdwaras in Punjab. A proposal for people to give $5,000 as interest free loans to the Gurdwara evoked interest amongst the audience.
The management decided to commemorate the Gurpurb of Guru Harkrishan Ji, in August, with special emphasis on the children, according to S. Pritpal Singh Khalsa, the Secretary of the Gurdwara.
