NEW YORK, NY: The martyrdom day of Guru Arjun Dev Ji was observed at Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Flushing, Queens on June 12. The function also commemorated all the martyrs who have laid down their lives for the Sikh Panth.

Baldev Singh, the secretary of Sikh Cultural Society, Richmond Hill, addressed the Sangat and spoke on the Sikh martyrs and the current situation being faced by the Sikhs. S. Surinder Singh Josen, General Secretary of the Singh Sabha Gurdwara, also spoke to the sangat and deplored the continuing attacks on the Golden Temple by the Indian paramilitary troops.

Earlier Giani Gurdeep Singh, head priest of the Richmond Hill Gurdwara, in his katha, the explanation of Guru Granth Sahib, narrated the Sikhs’ continuing struggle against evil. He asked all Sikhs to unite and fight the evil forces.

Kirtan at the function was rendered by the jatha of Bhai Nand Singh.
