NEW YORK: Speaking at the Richmond Gurdwara here, S. Gurcharan Singh Dhillon, ‘Treasurer World Sikh Organization, reiterated W.S.0’’s resolve to help Sikhs in Punjab to achieve their objective of establishing a sovereign Sikh State through peaceful means. He said that Sikhs living outside India must respect the laws of the land and improve the Sikh image by participating in various professional, cultural and religious organizations and activities of the country.

He also emphasized the need to have a well-trained cadre of Sikh priests (Bhai Sahibs) to manage the gurdwaras and conduct the Ceremonies in accordance with the Sikh traditions (Maryada).

Dr. Naunihal Singh, Director Administration W.S.O., introduced Mr. Joe Hanuman, coordinator of International Immigrants Parade. The parade is scheduled to be held on October 26, 1986. Mr. Hanuman invited the Sikhs to participate in the parade as a separate ethnic group under their own banner. The parade will start from Walker Street at 12:00 noon and will pass through Broadway.

W.S.O. and Tri-State Sikhs have decided to join as a separate contingent.
