CHICAGO, Oct, 5: In an exemplary gesture of humanitarianism, the Sikh Religious Society of Chicago came forward to pay for the funeral costs of needy nonmember fellow Chicagoan, Shri Krishan Chander Dutt, who died in his mid-forties of a heart attack on Oct. 3 in his Chicago home.

Some friends of late Mr. Dutt made an appeal to the Sunday Gurdwara congregation and almost everyone overcome with real feelings contributed for this noble cause,

Several members from the congregation including the President went to attend the wake held at Skokie.

Mr. Dutt used to own a gift store in Evanston area but suffered financial setbacks and was unemployed for about a year. He is survived by his wife Krishna and two young children.
