CHANDIGARH: Punjab clinched the overall championship having won two team events one runners-up spot and one third position collecting a total of 23 points at the recently concluded National Cross-Country Championship at Lucknow. Aruna Rani of Punjab who got top honors in the 3-km senior girl’s event was selected to take part in the Asian Cross Country Championship.
Mr Ishar Singh Deol secretary of the Punjab Amateur Athletic Association says that all winning team members of the state will be honoured at the inaugural Punjab Women’s Athletic Festival at Dakha (Ludhiana).
He added that the selection of the State women’s athletic team which will take part in the senior All-India Inter-State Athletic Meet to be held at Gandhinagar (Ahmedabad) will be made during the Dakha meet.
