PHAGWARA, India: Prof. Darshan Singh, Acting Jathedar of Akal Takht offered his services to help solve the Sikh problem provided the Sikh community ordered and authorized him to do so. Replying to newsmen, he said he was not against negotiations but advised that talks should be held with Sikh youth after taking all Sikhs into confidence. He hinted that a verdict on Finance Minister, Balwant Singh and others who had backed out from their pledges will be given after March 23rd.
Prof. Darshan Singh said that a report published in Daily Telegraph that a Hukamnama asking the Sikhs to remain neutral in Indo Pak war was completely false. The Five Head Priests sharply reacted to the Prime Minister’s statement that religion and politics should be kept apart.
