OTTAWA, Canada: An all-party delegation has gone to India. The parties representing are Progressive Conservatives, New Democrats and Liberals. The delegation is visiting India at the invitation received through the Ministry of External affairs under Joe Clark.

The delegation plans to visit Harmandir Sahib in Punjab and Chandigarh in union territory. The delegation will meet Surjit S. Barnala and his Ministers and their counterparts in Haryana government. Five Member Committee of Unified Akali Dal and Acting Jathedar of Akali Takht Prof. Darshan Singh.

In their itinerary they are going to visit other cities in India, Varanasi, Kanpur, Bombay, Calcutta and Banglore. They will be meeting Chief Minister Jyoti Basu West Bengal, T.N. Rama Rao of Andhra Pradesh, K.R. Hegde of Karanataka. They are going to explore why the communal riots did not take place in West Bengal, when the rest of India was engulfed by the riots

Before leaving they met Sikh community groups and heads of Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee at Ottawa, and Toronto. The Sikhs emphasized that the delegation should look into the violation of human rights, take police encounters and take up the issue of Jodhpur detainees who are being detained since 1984 without trial!
