CHANDIGARAH India: Punjab Government has taken a serious note of the reports of excesses committed by detachments of paramilitary forces deployed in Brahmpura in Amntsar district and ordered an immediate inquiry into the incident. Chief Minister, Surjit Singh Barnala said that enquiry will be conducted jointly by LG. Operations, DS. Mangat and 1.G., C.R.P.F., Mr. K.P_S. Gill. Barnala also ordered the immediate withdrawal of the detachments of the paramilitary forces from this village. He summoned an emergency meeting of the high ranking officials to discuss the situation and action to be taken against the guilty persons.

An official spokesman said that the State Government had taken a serious view of the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and of causing injury to some villagers.
