KARACHI, April 19, (Reuter): Pakistani police fired tear gas to disperse crowds today after at least three people were shot dead and 26 injured in a fresh outbreak of ethnic rioting in Karachi.

Residents in the suburb of New Karachi said police also fired warning shots in the air as sporadic incidents continued this morning.

Hospital doctors said another 11 people were brought to hospitals this morning with injuries from gunshots or stones in addition to 15 treated earlier.
