Nepal NEW DELHI: Eighteen members of Indian Parliament (MPS) belonging to four different political parties, joined bands in urging the government of India to assist the people of Nepal in achieving their democratic aspirations.

Emphasizing that winds of political changes were sweeping the entire world, the MPs, 13 from the new ruling party Janata Dal, three from Rajiv Gandhi’s Congress (I) and one each from the regional parties like ‘Telugu Desam’ of southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and ‘The Assam Gana Parishad’ of eastern state of Assam, issued a joint statement significantly on the day of the arrival here of Nepalese foreign minister Shailendra Kumar Upadhyaya.

“The people of India who have kept the flag of democracy aloft in this country should use their moral authority and influence in order that the will of the people of Nepal is reflected in their government and in their relations with India,” the statement read.
