BOMBAY: Security at the Tarapur nuclear power station had been tightened following the explosion of a country made bomb near Palghar railway station of the western railway, a few kilometers away from the Tarapur power station, on Tuesday.

A 50 year old woman residing in a hutment colony near the railway station died in the blast. The bomb, made out of an empty tin box, had been planted a little away from the railway lines, police said.

A bomb like object had also been sighted a few feet away from the place of the explosion, hidden under a heap of wooden railway sleepers.

Security measures had also been tightened at the Tarapur Industrial estate, Palghar railway depot and other important installations in the area, police added.
