Banglore: KARNATKA Governor has dissolved the state assembly on the recommendation of the chief minister, Mr. R. K. Hegdre.
The Chief Minister had tendered his resignation and recommended dissolution of the assembly in the wake of the reverses suffered by the JANTA PARTY in the December ’84 Parliamentary elections.
The Governor, however, has requested Mr. Hegdre’s ministry to continue in office as the care-taker ministry till the elections. The action of the Governor in asking a non-Congress (I) ministry to continue rather than recommending President’s rule is a clear departure from the undemocratic impatience and maneuverings shown during Mrs. Gandhi’s reign in getting rid of non-Congress (I) ministries.
