New Delhi: Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi has constituted a cabinet committee headed by Defense Minister, Narsimah Rao to go into the problem of Panjab. This step has been’ expeditiously taken following Rajiv’s announcement that Panjab issue was uppermost in his mind. Sikh circles in Panjab have shown complete indifference to the appointment of this committee particularly in view of Rao’s questionable role in holding back the Army during the Carnage unleashed against Sikhs in Delhi. Sikhs have already gone through the frustrating exercise of thrashing the issues threadbare a number of times and the new committee is not expected to be any different. Punjab problem is a_ political problem and has to be tackled and solved as such.
