CONFRONTED with an estimate shortage of 300, – 000 nurses in U.S.A., the Federal: Immigration & Naturalization Services has decided to grant one-year visa extension to foreign trained nurses. Last year, INS tightened requirements on temporary H-1 visas held by more than 10,000 foreign nurses nationwide which limited their stay in U.S.A. no more than five years. As a result of new tough law, New York City alone would have lost nearly – 4,000) nurses over the next few years, the New York Times reported.
