SHIMLA: The Himachal Governor, Sudhakarrao Naik, has resigned to join active politics in his home state of Maharashtra.
He submitted his resignation to the President, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, at Delhi Sept.10th, following a series of meetings with the Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao. Naik remained the Governor of the state for more than a year. He was sent here following the death of Surendra Nath, who was holding the additional charge of the post in Himachal Pradesh.
The continuation of Naik here had remained a suspense, He was keen on returning to Maharashtra to settle old scores with his arch political rival, Sharad Pawar.
