NEW DELHI: Shicla Kaul, Minister for Urban Affairs and Employment, Sept.10th, resigned from the Union Council of Ministers. A Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said here that the President, Dr. Shanker Dayal Sharma, had accepted the resignation on the advice of the Prime Minister. Mrs. Kaul’s resignation comes the wake of reports that she is likely to be given a gubernatorial post.
Congress sources said Mrs. Sheila Kaul was expected to be appointed Governor of Himachal Pradesh where the gubematorial post was vacated earlier in the day by Sudhakatrao Naik.
Kaul became the Urban Development Minister after the 1991 Lok Sabha elections.
