MANDAWARE: Congress I President, Rajiv Gandhi, launched a scathing attack on the right wing Bharatiya Janata Party for “fanning communalism and casteism” to achieve its political objectives and demanded that the BJP government in Indian desert state of Rajasthan on the western border should take stern action against guilty police officers for the massacre of ten “Kanjars” (nomads) here.

Gandhi visited the injured at the health center and announced that about hundred thousand rupees, would be generated by the various Congress I state units to provide relief and rehabilitation measures to Kanjars.

At public meetings in begun, Gandhi did not say the Congress I was not in a hurry to come back to power nor is it interesting in breaking the ruling Janata Dal government.” At present, he said the party was being reorganized in the wake of its defeat in the last Lok Sabha elections.

He also alleged that the BJP is trying to divide the country by fanning communalism and casteism.

Expressing concern over the Kashmir situation, he said “even Assam and Tamil Nadu are facing critical problems. We do not know whether we can save Kashmir or not.”
