CHANDIGARH, India: Ganda Singh, a renowned historian died at Patiala on Dec. 27, at the age of 90.
Ailing for some time, Ganda Singh was one of the greatest scholars Punjab has produced and had to his credit over 50 history books, especially on the Sikhs. He had extensively researched World War 1.
Singh, collected historical scriptures and studied the lives and works of various Sufi saints. He taught Indian history at Khalsa College in Amritsar and had had a brief stint in the army.
He had recently helped Prof Harbans Singh of Punjabi University in Patiala in the compilation of an encyclopedia on Sikh history.
