Bob Charles shot a par70 recently to beat Dave Stockton by a stroke for the Bell Atlantic Classic tittle in Malvern, PA, becoming the first golfer to earn $4 million on the Senior PGA Tour. Charles had a six under total of 204 at Chester Valley Golf Club for his second victory of the year. The purse of $97,500 boosted the 57yearold New Zealander’s career earnings on the Senior PGA Tour to $4,039,195. Stockton, who started one stroke back of Charles and Lee Trevino, birdied three of four holes on the front side to take a two stroke lead at eight under, but bogeyed three straight holes on the front nine. Trevino shot a two over 72 and finished in a tie for fourth.
