Chandigarh — One hundred one advocates professors, doctors, engineers, ex-servicemen and other intellectuals have deplored the Longowal Rajiv Gandhi accord as anti-Sikh and anti-Punjab.
In a joint statement issued here, the group said that capitalists under cover of ritualistic leadership of Sant Harchand Singh Longowal brought about the accord to advance their own interests. The group expressed shock at the manner in which the accord was engineered. It asked: were all the sacrifices made by the Khalsa Panth worth the accord?
The group condemned the “package deal” approach adopted by Sant Longowal and his associates at the cost of vital interests of the Khalsa Panth. It hailed the decision of the United Akali Dal to reject the accord.
