MODESTO: Recently, Simi Purewal daughter of Mr. Harjeet S, Purewal & Mrs. Kulwant K. Purewal won the title Of Miss India Modesto, which was held #t Modesto Center Plaza. Sixteen girls Participated from the Central Valley area, there were a total of seven judges who Judged the girls on six categories; beauty, Modeling, gown, three impromptu questions, and a one to two minute speech for the talent portion. Simi won a crown, $ash, and a ticket to cither Fiji Islands, India, or Australia; Simi chooses to travel to India. First Runner up Amnit, who is daughter of Mrs. Sarb Purewal won a tuckei to Hawaii. Amnit is a Ceres High Senior and was one of the youngest contestants at age of sixteen. As Amnit Quotes: “This was a really fun and good experience, for me.”

Simi is a student at Cal State Stanislaus and quotes; “I learned so much and had the opportunity to meet so many people, I just tried my best and I suppose that was good enough for the judges!” It was an excellent accomplishment for both these young ladies who are also cousins. We asked one of them to comment ‘on that: “We entered this pageant hoping the judges would sec us and judge us on our individuality, at times it was hard for us, but we Just held each other, and said good luck to each other before we went out and I know at that moment we both knew all was going to be okay, no matter what and as a result, we both came out at the top!”, quotes Amnit.
