AMRITSAR: Gunmen Tuesday looted an armory of the general railway police (GRP) at Ferozepur in Punjab.

They also took away arms from the Punjab state electricity board grid station at Lokha village under Patti police station of Tarn Taran district,

Gunmen had also attacked and looted an armoury Monday in the Majitha police area.

According to official reports received here, about 25 men wearing police uniforms came in two trucks and raided the GRP armoury in Ferozepur at around 0100 hours.

Within half an hour, they held five GRP personnel captive and looted the arms, including three self-loading rifles with SO cartridges, 20. 303 rifles with about 1,000 cartridges.

The attackers however, released four of the GRP personnel and escaped with the fifth man, identified as Hardeep Singh. Police suspect Hardeep Singh was involved.

Police and security forces in the state have launched a massive hunt.

In the second incident, they attacked the grid station at Lokha in Patti area of Tarn Taran around midnight.

After exchanging fire with the PSEB security men the assailants threatened to blow up the grid station with rockets. The security men were forced to surrender.

The assailants sped away with arms and ammunition.
