SAN FRANCISCO: Honorable Immigration Judge Lawrence Dicostanzo granted asylum 10 Balwinder Kaur, claimed to be a member and activist of the AISSF. She claimed torture at the hands of the Punjab police, because of her political opinion and advocating separation from India to form a Sikh homeland called Khalistan.
She was very firm in her views why the Sikh nation as a whole wants to break away from Hindu rule. She cited that the Constitution of India, even though calls India a secular country places Hindus and Sikhs under one law. Sikhs are apart and different from Hindus. Sikhs are required to keep a physical form, the 5K’s.
