LONDON: Sunil Gavaskar, who has played in more Test matches and scored more ‘centuries than any batsman in history ‘announced his retirement from Test cricket.
“My appetite for top cricket and plenty of runs has disappeared,” Gavaskar said after hitting 80 not out for a Rest of the World team against the MCG Gavaskar, who has played in 125 test matches and scored 34 centuries said he should play in the World Cup in India and Parisian in October but would not play Mad Get close cricket after that.
“This is my last five-day match,” the 38 year old Indian star said. “I will not be available for our series against the West Indies after the World Cup. I will not play, in the domestic competitions because 1 to block a young player. There may be a couple of knockabout games”.
“I made my decision back in March during our series against Pakistan, but I did ‘not want to announce it publicly then because it might have excluded me from selection for this match and I wanted to play here.
