From Our Special Correspondent Chandigarh: The indiscriminate massacre of Sikhs in almost every major city of India outside Punjab has left no choice with the Sikhs but to migrate to Punjab where they feel comparatively safe.
A regular trickle of trucks carrying Sikhs and their salvaged belongings is the common sight on the Grand Trunk Road.
This migration has unnerved the Central Government, and Hindus living in Punjab. The returning Sikhs have harrowing tales to tell, and there is a wave of anger over all Punjab.
The Army is maintaining peace, but feels hard-pressed and stretched to a point of helplessness.
