ROHTAK: Work on the Satluj Yamuna Link Caral in Punjab would start soon, claimed the Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhajan Lal.

Bhajan Lal said the Haryana Vikas Party (HVP) leader, Bansi Lal, and the former Chief Minister, Devi Lal, did nothing for construction of the canal during their respective tenures as Chief Ministers, Bhajan Lal flayed Bansi Lal for his promise of total prohibition in the state when he would come to power.

He said presently the Haryana Government had decided not to open any liquor vends in those villages where the panchayats had passed a resolution requesting the state government not to open any vend. The Chief Minister asked the people not to be misguided by the ‘false’ promises and propaganda of the Opposition parties, particularly the Rashtriya Samajvadi Janata Party (RSJP) and the HVP.

He cautioned the people against participating in the proposed June 23 “bandh, the call for which was given by the RSJP. He said nobody would be allowed to take law in his own hand.

Bhajan Lal claimed that with the signing of the Yamuna Waters Accord, the state’s share from the Yamuna waters had increased and with the construction of two dams, namely Trenuka and Kishau, on river ‘Yamuna, southern Haryana would get water throughout the year as the canals were feeding Hisar, Sirsa and Jind districts of the state.
