LAHORE, Pakistan, Nov. 9: West Indies avenged their shock defeat by Pakistan in the first test by winning the second today their pace men ripping through the home side’s batting for the second time in the match.

Pakistan went down by an innings and 10 runs after being whipped out for 77 as Courtney Walsh, Malcom Marshall and Tony Gray made merry, They took eight wickets between them,

The home side won the first test at Faisalabad by 186 runs when West Indies were bowled out for their lowest ever score of 53, The final testis in Karachi from November 20.

Hopes of a repeat of last month’s remarkable victory dissolved ‘once West Indies, having established a first innings lead of 87, sent back both Pakistani openers with just three runs on the board.

With Wasim Akram already on the injured list, Pakistan suffered another blow when Qasim Omar had to retire after being hit in the face by a bouncer from Walsh,

Akram batted with a runner at the end of the innings but he could not prevent Pakistan being bowled out for their lowest score against West Indies half an hour before the close.

Pakistan’s previous lowest against the touring side was 140 in Lahore in 1958-59,

Except for Javed Miandad, with 19 Pakistan’s highest scorer, none of the team batted with any confidence against some fine pace bowling by Walsh and Gray.

Walsh took four per 21 and Gray three for 20 today, but it was Marshall who took the man of the match award for his match haul of six for 47.

Earlier, West Indies had lost their last three wickets for 33 runs inside an hour, Pakistan Captain Imran Khan took all three to finish with five for 59, Leg-spinner Abdul Qadir had four For 96.
