An article carried in ‘India Abroad’ has been brought to our attention, Mr. Wenman certainly chose an excellent opportunity not only to discredit his 6000 Sikh constituents but all of us. Amnesty International and other Humanitarian groups around the world, have documented the excesses of government of India, and I won der if Mr. Wenman ever took a moment to study these reports.

I was not a least bit surprised to read Mr. Wenman’s comments mainly because of his historical background. During November 1984 Convention in Abbotsford, he had intervened to stop General Bhullar from entering Canada at the instigation of his pro Government of India supporters. His coordinators for the trip to India were Mr. Ahuja and Babhu Singh. The pro government of India stand of both these men is crystal clear to the Sikhs in Vancouver.

My question is to the Sikh constituents of this MP., how can you be fooled twice in a row? You knew this MP’s stand before election and don’t’ tell me that we didn’t warn you. In spite of that you believed him (Wenman) for his reformed opinion and strongly supported him to get reelected. If you recall his margin of election, you had an excellent opportunity to dump him. Perhaps, there is a lesson to be learnt here! Can you at least question his statement “cal ling you liars” ?

We have written to him to clarify his statement and will endeavor to meet with him.

Gian Singh President, ‘WSO, Canada.
