NEW DELHI, India: Three people including a Deputy Superintendent of Police were killed following a clash and police firing on a mob of weavers at a place in Bhagalpur district of Bihar, according to all India radio.

It was officially seated that the DSP, S.B. Mehra, was killed by the mob and his body was thrown into a burning jeep after heavy brikbatting.

The police opened fire to disperse the mob in which two people were killed.

In Kapurthala district, a doctor was shot dead by two unidentified youths while travelling in a bus. The assailants who were also travelling by the same bus killed the doctor while getting down.

In Gurdaspur district, two teachers were shot dead by some unknown assailants on a canal bridge in another incident in the district a shopkeeper was shot dead in Dera Baba Nanak. In Faridkot district, two teenaged girls were strangled to death and another kidnapped by unidentified miscreants.

In Ferozepur district, two persons looted cash from the state electricity board office in Abohar.

In Mizoram, medical services have been paralyzed due to a strike by a doctors association.
