NAPIER: Former Indian captain Dilip Vengsarkar joined his team here on Feb 7th to reinforce the batting but arrived without his baggage.
“I am in a fine fettle, said Vengsariar, included in the team following the hand injury to Navjot Sidhu and India’s 10 wicket crushing defeat in the first test.
He showed no signs of jet lag or of anxiety as his baggage could not reach here because of paucity of time.
“I have been informed it has been put on another connecting flight and I should get it by late this evening or tomorrow morning,” said Vengsarkar.
He did not have his bat and gear but he still batted with the fluency and style which earned him the sobriquet “colonial.’
