Hyderabad: Nine men’s teams and six women’s squads will vie for honors in the seventh Federation Cup Basketball Championships to be held at Alwaye in Kerala from March 25 to April 1

According to a release of the Basketball Federation of India (BFl) here, the BFI’s technical committee chairman, Mr. G.M. Sampath Kumar said the men’s teams would play on a league cum knockout basis while the women’s championship will be fought out on league basis.

‘Only the champion district, command or regional unit, or club of the eligible state or ‘unit can participate in the championship, Mr. Kumar said.

The men’s competition will feature teams from out of the eight quarter finalists, apart from hosts Kerala, while the women’s event will be fought out by teams from the {op six sides in the last national championships held in December last.

Men (Group A): Railways, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar end Punjab

Group B: Services, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Kerala,

Women: Railways, Punjab, Kerala, Karnataka, Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
