NICOSIA, Nov 17, Reuter: Twenty-seven nations have recognized a Palestinian state since it was proclaimed by Palestine Liberation Organization Chairman Yasser Arafat on Tuesday.

They are: Algeria, Iraq, Malaysia, Kuwait, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, North Yemen, South Yemen, Madagascar, Turkey, Bahrain, Jordan, Bangladesh, Libya, The United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, Mauritania, Morocco, Zambia, Yugoslavia, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Sudan, Cuba and Brunei.

Countries which have supported the Palestinian action but stopped short of formal recognition are: Egypt, the Soviet Union, Greece, Qatar, East Germany, Syria, Poland, Malta, Cyrus and Oman. (End)
