HARBANS S. SRAON
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji founded the Sikh Religion on the bases of TRUTH, JUSTICE, LOVE, TOLERANCE, UNDERSTANDING and COURAGE. His approach was rational and practical. As science promotes intellectual sincerity and search for truth, so does SIKHISM. Sikh Religion Has Three Golden Rules:
- Earn living by honor and dignity.
- Remember God.
- Caring and sharing with fellow human beings. By applying these principles, humans can recognize true essence of life (happy and healthy living). His Sikhs shall not stay silent at the time of oppression and shear falsehood. They are given the courage to tell the truth. Deliverance comes only from putting into practice The Holy Scriptures (Guru Garanth Sahib) the spiritual Gurbani which comes directly from the Gurus, is the greatest treasure for the Sikhs. When read with devotion it gives eternal advice, as noticed from the following verses:
One Supreme Being, of the true Nam, The Creator, devoid of fear and enmity, immortal, unborn, self-existent and the enlightener.
We all have a common Father and so we all are His children.
Thou art my father, thou art my! Mother, thou art my relation and my brother.
For one who practices truth there is only one religion, (The religion of Truth).
People. According a to different understandings, have given different accounts thee O Lord:
Unite my beloved ones. Wash off your doubts uttering His Holy Name.
There is one God so there can be only one way. Accept therefore that one way and reject all others.
The right spiritual effort is that through which Truth abideth in the mind. All else is hypocrisy and every worship fruitless.
By conquering the mind thou shalt conquer the whole world.
One, who knoweth one’s own self, recogniseth the Jewel (God).
He that resideth in the Universe also resideth in the body.
O, my soul, thou hast emerged from the Light of God, know the true essence.
The true one is realized through the purity of soul.
The Unfathomable is within, but is not realized because of the veil of egotism in between.
Egotism is the deep rooted disease.
The God’s Nam is the curer of all ailments.
