LAHORE Pakistan, Aug. 16, Reuter: Opposition parties plunged into differences today on how they should go about removing Pakistani President Mohammad ZiaulHaq and holding fresh national elections.

The country’s largest political group, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), refused to sign an opposition conference declaration demanding General Zia’s removal and establishment of a caretaker government before elections, conference sources said.

At least 15 of the 17 parties which attended the meeting signed the declaration, but three parties stayed away.
