That land is a blighted land where right to life and liberty is a legislatively knocked down. Such retrogressive measures negate the very premises of democracy. True democracy is not simply going through the mechanical routine of an electoral process every five years. It is much more than that. It is a commitment to evolve a socio political order based on principles of human dignity, freedom, equality and justice.
India claims to be a democracy but the plight of religious minorities there is worse than what Jews suffered in the Nazi Germany or what Blacks are suffering in South Africa. Sikhs and Muslims are hunted and hounded. They are being targeted through state sponsored terrorism and frenzy of the rampaging Hindu mobs.
Amnesty International in its latest report states “oppression and persecution of the Sikhs in India was widespread and growing.” It further states, “the media in India is state owned, and complete blackout of foreign press keeps the World from knowing the facts of the daily terror of the Sikhs in their own country.” World Sikh Organisation deserves to be congratulated for bringing out this concise but enlightening booklet. It has presented the shocking truth as revealed by impartial investigative bodies. It is for the free world to take congnisance of it and take remedial steps to save the religious minorities in general and the Sikhs in particular. In view of the total bankruptcy of the judicial system in India, it would be criminal to allow the extradition of promising young men like Ranjit Singh Gill and Sukhumi der Singh Sandhu. I am confident that this booklet will go a long way in dispelling the misconceptions created by the vicious Indian propaganda.
