BOMBAY: Indian National Cricket selectors have ‘recalled Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Ravi Shastri and Sanjeev ‘Sharma, and brought in a new face in the form of all-rounder Anil Kumble while choosing the 14 member Indian squad for the forthcoming Australia Cup Tournament at Sharjah.

The team was finalized Sunday but could be released to the press only Monday morning after getting the approval of the president of the board of control for cricket India, B.NB. Dutt late Sunday night.

The squad: M. Azharuddin (Capt), K.S. More (Vice Capt), N.S. Sidhu, K. Srikanth, S.V. Manjrekar, S.R. Tendulkar, W.V. Raman, Kapil Dev, M. Prabhakar, A. Wassan, Sanjeev Sharma, Venkatapathy Raju, A. Kumble and R.J Shastri.

‘Assam’s Rana Goswami will be the administrative manager and Bishen Singh Bedi Cricket manager of the team which is scheduled to leave for Sharjah ‘on April23 to take partin the six nation limited overs championship from April 25 to May 4.

The selectors have retained 10 members of the party which went to New Zealand while leaving out seven including Dilip Vengsarkar who flew there as a late replacement for the injured Navjot Sidhu.

The others dropped from the squad which toured New Zealand are V.B. Chandrasekhar M. Venkataramana, Ajay Sharma, Narendra Hirwani, Vivek Razdan and Gursharan Singh.
