NEW DELHI, India, (Reuter): The youthful doubles pairing of Christian Miniussiand Javier Frana gave Argentina an unexpected success against India in their Davis Cup World Group first round tie.

Miniussi, 20, and Frana, 21, beat the veteran Indian brothers Anand and Vijay Amritraj, who have been playing Davis Cup tennis together since 1969, 63, 64, 36, 86, in two hours and 25 minutes to put Argentina 21 ahead overall.

Anand Amritraj, the elder by two years at 35, was the weak link in the Indian partnership and the Argentina were quick to punish his serving.

Vijay Amritraj briefly established his authority with a series of superb forehand retums to win the third set before the Argentina wrapped up the match in the fourth when they broke Anand Amritraj’s serve in the 14th game.

In the opening singles, Vijay Amritraj beat Horacio De La Pena in straight sets but Martin Jaite put Argentina level when he came from two sets down to beat Ramesh Krishman.
