LONDON: Sikh societies celebrated Vaisakhi, the birthday of the Khalsa on Sunday April 19th, 1987. Akhand’ Path Bhog was followed by flag hoisting ceremony at 10:00 a.m.

Heritage Committee of Sikh Societies had speech contest on Vaisakhi and Prizes were awarded to young boys and girls. Ist prize went to Gurpreet Kaur. Consolation prizes were given to some good speakers to encourage them to take part.

W.S.0. MEETING

London W.S.O. had its annual meeting under the Chairmanship of Dr. M. Singh on April 19th. A motion was passed to send delegates to W.S.O. biannual convention to be held at Vancouver. The resolution was passed to adopt children who have been orphaned due to Sikh massacre in Nov. 1984 or due to state oppression.

STOCKTON Ca.; Vaisakhi was celebrated on April 19: After the Bhog of Akhand Path, Nishan Sahib was hoisted. Resolutions congratulating S. Jatinder Singh Ahluwalia on his release in Bhajan Lal conspiracy case by New Orleans courts, praying for the release of other innocent Sikh detainees in that case and appreciating United States justice system were unanimously adopted.

YUBA CITY, Ca.: Vaisakhi was celebrated at Tierra Buena Gurdwara on April 19.

After the Bhog of Akhand Path, kirtan and katha were held.

Nishan Sahib wc.e presented by Gopal Singh Bains a senior member of the Gurdwara Committee and Harbajan Singh Sandhu, President and Nachatar Singh Chohan to Gurdwara Live Oak Yuba City and El Sobrante.

The sewa of the Nishan Sahib was provided by Kewal Singh Purewal and sewa for langar was provided by Udham Singh Heer.
