NEW DELHI, Sept. 29 Reuter: Seven fishermen are missing after a sudden storm hit a reservoir, the Press Trust of India reported today.

The news agency said about 350 men was fishing behind the Gandhi Sagar Dam near the city of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh state when a squall struck. It said a search was continuing for the missing men.

Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was due to make an aerial inspection of flood damage in Wes Bengal state today after at least 18 people died and 650,000 were left homeless by three days of heavy ‘monsoon rain.

Calcutta, the state capital and India’s most populous city, was under a sheet of water and Wes Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu said yesterday evacuees were being housed in more than 2,000 temporary camps.
