Guru Teg Bahadur was born at Amritsar on April 1,162] in the house of Guru Hargobind Jee, (the sixth Sikh Master) and Mata Nanki ji. His first name was Tiag Mal or Tiag Das, when he showed great feat of sword in the first war, the Guru Hargobind renamed him Teg Bahadur.

He was married to Gujri Ji and was blessed with a lone son Guru Gobind Singh. He, besides him, had four brothers and a sister (Ani Rai, Atal Rai, Suraj Mal, Baba Gurditta and Bibi Veero). Date of assumption as Guru was March 20,1665 at the age of 41 at Baba Bakala. His Bani sof 175 Shabads,

He was against islamisization of Hindus by Aurangzeb. He openly protested against that policy, The Guru was arrested and executed at Delhi in Chandni Chowk in 1675 at the age of 54. He was the grand son of Martyr Guru Arjan Dev ji, One Sikh Jaita, of the low sweeper class

smuggled his head to his family at Anand Pur. Another Lakhi Shah a trader of village Rakab Ganj rescued the body and used his own home as a funeral pyre and cremated the body. Guru Gobind Singh designated the low caste Sikh as “Rangreta Guru Ka Beta.” Guru Teg Bahadur sacrificed his life for freedom of worship for all religions, notably the Hindus to save their Tilak, Janju and Chou. ‘These two martyrdoms of fifth & ninth Gurus are examples of nonviolence unparalleled in the history of the world.
