I kept my silence till now so that the good name of the Sikh Community of Fremont Gurdwara may not be dragged down by this malicious propaganda being carried out against me by the executive committee.

Sadh Sangat Ji, following issues have been raised by the false allegations of the executive committee against me:

  1. Felony charges were filed against me by an unknown party. The District Attorney has directed the Fremont Police Department not to disclose the name of the person/ persons who made the charges.
  2. The said resolution was passed by the Executive Committee on Sept 15 and approved by the Board of Directors on Sept. 21. The letter was written on Sept 24 and signed by the President on Oct. 3 after ten days. I received my copy on Oct. 16 telling me to

respond by Oct. 20 i.e. within three days! Moreover, the corrections on the attached copy of the letter are proof of the Committee’s thinking.

  1. Further, while these officials gave me only three days to respond to their malicious and false allegations, they took one month to tell me about it. They even forgot to mention to whom should I address my response.
  2. The Executive Committee and the Board of Directors have placed themselves above the authority of the Sadh Sangat to decide who can and who cannot come to the Gurdwara. These elected representatives of the Sangat have given themselves the power to make new laws for the Sikhs. They are so power drunk that they think they can stop a Sikh from coming to sit in the Hazuri of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

I suggest the following:

*In accordance with the highest Sikh traditions followed at the Akal Takht, the Sangat should select five Bhai Sahiban of five gurdwaras as Panj Piaras. They should decide and finally resolve the matter in the illustrious presence of the Sadh Sangat.

*All those who were present on that unfortunate day must appear and present their evidence in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib and Sangat. Failure to show up should be taken as failure to do his or her duty towards the Sikh Community.

The Chairman must inform the following persons to attend: Members of the Board of Directors present on the day the resolution was passed. Members of the Executive Committee who passed the resolution.

All Board and Committee Members who were present during the Monday night Ardas after the meeting called by S. Balbir Singh Ragi and S. Narinder Singh Bains to resolve this issue. Bhai Sahib who performed the Ardas.

Mr. Sabharwal who was upstairs at that time in the gurdwara.

Mr. Sran and Mr. Sabharwal should explain why did they take one month in mailing the letter and why did they give me only three days to respond.

I humbly request Giani Jang Singh Ji and other well-versed Sikhs to explain the Sikh tradition followed at the Akal Takht to decide such matters.

Everybody present whether young or old should behave respectfully and graciously in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib. All parents should bring their school going kids with them so that they also may learn the Sikh way of resolving their conflicts.

I should make it clear that I am only responsible for my own actions and not anybody else’s.

I would like to resolve this matter on Oct 27, 1985 between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm before Langar is served. After the Sangat’s and Panj Piaras’ decision this chapter should be closed forever. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji ki Fateh.

Humbly Your Das,

Jagjit Singh Boparai
