CHANDIGARH: There has been mixed reaction to the mass resignation by Members of Parliament belonging to Opposite parties in the Lok Sabha yesterday.
While the local units of the Akali Dal and the BJP hailed the “historic decision” of the Opposition MPs the President of the Punjab unit of the National Students Union of India condemned the action.
The local unit of the BJP stated that it respected all democratic norms and would unilaterally expose the misdeeds of the ruling party throughout the country.
Ranjit Singh Riar of the Chandigarh Akali Dal appealed to all political parties to work hard to make “Bharat bandh” on August 9 a success.
Dr. Maha Singh, Tourism and Transport Minister and Dr. Raghvir Singh Cooperation Minister Haryana have also welcomed the resignations of 73 MPs.
