SRINAGAR (PTI): The security personnel throughout Kashmir valley have been put on extra alert on the eve of planned “”Muharram”” procession while two persons were killed and an abducted person was rescued in the valley

A high-level meeting is in progress here in Srinagar to decide whether to impose curfew in the city Sunday as the people have been asked by pro-militant leaders and militant outfits to participate in the Muharram procession with shrouds official sources told PTI.

Sixteen subversive elements were arrested and property worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed in different fire incidents last night and today an official spokesman told reporters.

He said a militant was killed and a security personnel sustained injuries in an encounter between militants and security forces during the course of a search operation at Arigam in Badgam district. One AK 47 rifle was recovered from him.

The spokesman said the body of Ghulam Mohiuddin payer of Manigam-Kupwara was recovered from village Poshpora Trehgam. The victim had been abducted by militants and later shot dead.
