NEW DELHI: The Rao regime which grew out of its minority Status only some months ago can become once again vulnerable to Opposition onslaught when the AIADMK its long-time ally deserts it and chooses to work in concert with like-minded Opposition parties.

The ruling party with 251 members is on its own still 26 short of absolute majority in the Lok Sabha whose strength is 544 excluding the Speaker. There are 12 vacancies. The Congress has been surviving with the support of some of its established allies.
