NEW DELHI — Andhra Chief Minister, N.T. Rama Rao and Jan Morcha leader V.P. Singh, were unanimously chosen as chairman. And Convenor respectively of seven party national front. It was announced by the leaders of the seven constituent parties at the press conference on Sunday, the last day of the two days meeting. Besides N. T. Rama Rao and V.P. Singh, Devi Lal, Ajit Singh, Perphula Kumar Mohanta, P. Upindera and K.P. Unikrishnan were present at the press conference. “Here is an alternative to Congress J,” Rama Rao remarked, while announcing the names of the presidium members. Personally speaking, Mr. Rao remarked, that he was much overwhelmed as too many veteran leaders placed confidence in him. Even though he was only six years old in the politics. Coming to the program policy and other issues, Mr. V.P. Singh said that he was only for throwing out a Govt., which is disliked by the people, but he stands for a social change in the society and the country.

The leaders of the party’s constituent, finalized the constitution of the new party and gave final touches to a 57 point common program. They left the planning of its execution to presidium. A committee to finalize the manifesto will be announced later, Mr. V.P. Singh said. The front will have its secretariat in Delhi. It was decided to formally launch the front on September 15, 1988. The details of the common program will be announced by Mr, Singh and P. Upindera on next Monday. Mr. V.P: Singh has been accepted as chief executive of the front. However, the chairman, Mr. Rao has not been given any specific powers except that he will discharge normal duties in consultation with the Convenor. He will of course preside over all the meetings of the meeting.

According to the sources, close to the party the election of chairman and convenor, was a smooth affair and was over within a minute.
