NEW DELHI: A big rally on Tuesday threatened to launch a agitation throughout India from June 15 to press for the demand of electing the next president from among the Dalit’s (lower caste) and complete implementation of the Mandal commission report on job reservations.

The Mandal commission report giving the backward class people 27% reservation was adopted by the V.P. Singh government in 1990 which gave vent to student unrest

Organized by the All India Dalit Action Committee to mark the 101st birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar. The rally also demanded a law to punish those head of government departments who were responsible for not implementation the job reservation orders.

The rally held at the sprawling boat club lawns near the parliament house here sought job reservation in the private sectors and representation of backward classes in the armed forces as well

Other speakers at the rally were the former Lok Sabha speaker Rabi Ray top Janata Dal formers Ram Vilas Paswan.
