HANDIGARH India: The Congress (I) President Mr. Rajiv Gandhi expelled former Karnataka Chief Minister Mr. R. Gundu Rao from the primary membership of the party for six years for anti-party activities Announcing this decision Congress (I) General Secretary Bhagwat Jha Azad stated that the action had been taken against the former working committee member Gundu Rao for deliberately acting in a way that was designed to lower the prestige of the party. Mr. Gundu Rao on the other hand said that his expulsion from the party did not surprise him. “I expected it” he said on being told of his expulsion from the party to establish its chapters.
* Sikh missionaries were encouraged to start dissemination of Sikh principles.
* The Sikh youth was organized to achieve W.S.O objectives by peaceful means.
* Support was extended to World Sikh News which is the main voice of the Sikhs in the West.
* Amnesty International was contacted to intervene to secure the release of Sikh political prisoners held under black laws in India.
* Think Tanks were established comprising Sikh intellectuals in different areas to advice on crucial matters.
* To help the victims of oppression financial programs were carried out particularly for the widow’s orphans and the needy.
