CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered the transfer of two convicts in the case of attempt on the life of Rajiv Gandhi from Tihar jail to high security jail, Sangrur.

Dr. (Mrs.) Justice Sarojiai Saksena ordered that the petitioners, Karamjit Singh and Amarjit Singh be transferred to Sangrur jail under tight security and the trial Beheldin Sangrur jail.

The petitioners, Karamjit Singh and Amarjit Singh, through their counsel Harbhajan Singh submitted that the Punjab police should be directed to bring them from Tihar jail to Sangrur jail amidst tight security as they apprehend elimination at the hands of the Punjab police. The two are required by the Punjab police in some other cases.
