NEW DELHI: Matinee Idol and Congress-I candidate Rajesh Khanna scored an unassailable victory over his BJP rival and fellow film star Shatrughan Sinha with 28256-vote margin in the prestigious New Delhi Lok Sabha bye-election.
A visibly-thrilled Khanna who was present at the counting center throughout the day said “this is a victory for the politics of stability.”
Congress (I) President P.V.Narasimha Rao thanked the People of New Delhi for extending their Support to the party candidate Rajesh Khanna and ensuring his victory in the election.
Rajesh Khanna polled a total of 101625 votes while Shatrughan Sinha got 73369 votes
